Arctic Maritime presented in Beijing, May 13th, 2016

Intelligence in the Arctic Maritime Industry

Arctic Maritime and Maritime Intelligence presents –event organized by the City of Helsinki Finland as a part of “Moi Helsinki” Programme in Beijing, China in May 2016, turned out to be a great success. It exceeded all of the prior expectations of both, participants and organizers. Altogether ten Finnish and Finnish based international corporations introduced their latest accomplishments and potential co-operation possibilities and, in addition, their objectives for future ways to create more forms of co-operation. The Chinese participants, representatives from the twenty most important Chinese Maritime related corporations, introduced their latest achievements and targets to the attendees.

Wide Co-operation Already

Already many corporations, like Aker Arctic, ABB Marine & Ports, ESL Shipping, Deltamarine and Rolls-Royce Marine have wide co-operation with the Chinese Maritime related corporations. Helsinki based ESL Shipping is currently building two, the first in the world, LNG-operated “loose cargo” vessels, designed by Deltamarine, at the shipyard of Sinotrans & CSC SBICO in China. Multiple cargo vessels, designed by the Deltamarine have been built in various Chinese shipyards. During the conference, ABB published a remarkable announcement involving their first order for a research icebreaker vessel of China Polar Research Institute. The order included two Azipod machineries developed by Aker Arctic. Furthermore, China Cosco Shipping Corporation, Guangzhou Shipyard International, CSIC China Ship Design & Research Center and China Polar Research Institute and the already mentioned Sinotrans Qingshan Shipyard introduced their latest plans and hopes for closer co-operation.

As a conclusion of the conference, all of the participants shared a joint view that the co-operation inside of the Maritime Industry and between the Goverments of Finland and People´s Republic of China would enable creating more concrete projects and supplier -customer relationships.
