Introducing the JURY
THE JURY IS IN! At the Heureka Science Centre 20 medium size ICT companies will present their innovative solutions for the Maritime Industry. Companies will make a presentation to a professional international jury. The jury will choose three companies among these 20 with the most innovative and yet concrete and beneficial solutions for the Maritime Industry.
Dr. TAPIO KOIVU, Executive Director of the HEUREKA Science Centre
Through the years up to now, Mr Koivu has been active in a number of boards of start-ups (Solucel oy, Envault corp, Vergo Oy, Plexpress Oy, Zora Biosciences, Global Eco Solutions Oy), chair of an investment committee of a start-up fund (Seed Cap II) and active in different business development functions (Venture Cup Foundation, board) as well.
Mr Koivu has also had a key role in creating various innovation platforms, such as Helsinki Think Company and InnoHub Oy, a joint company between VTT and Philips.
He was appointed to the position of Executive Director of Heureka in August 2014.
From 2011 to early 2013 he was director of Research Affairs at the University of Helsinki. Prior to this, he was Executive Vice President at Technical Research Center of Finland (VTT) where he was responsible directly to the CEO of VTT for the commercialization of intellectual property and generation of new technology based start-ups. Dr. Koivu held the position of Vice President and founder of VTT’s office in Silicon Valley and Research Fellow at Stanford from 2001 to 2004.
REIJO KROOK, Vice President Internal Audit & Quality Systems, Finnlines Plc.
Mr Krook has acted in different kind of development jobs in ship building and shipping business since 1980’s, mainly in Finnlines and it’s predecessor companies.
Scope of the development work has been from strategic corporate planning to development of the service products and operative processes as well as governance of the management procedures.
Mr Krook is a Member of the Extended Board of Management of Finnlines Plc.
CHRISTER EKBLAD, Head of Logistics, Repair and Configuration at Teracom AB, Stockholm Sweden
At Teracom Mr Ekblad is within the management team for the business area ”Network Services” with 270 employees.
Earlier he served as a management consultant working primarily with sourcing and distribution. During his time as a consultant he also worked with the creation of a new health care concept with the goal of lowering the strain on the emergency care in Sweden. Due to his work experience and personal interest Christer has gained extensive knowledge in Performance Management and Data visualization.
He has built a computer application that analyses the freight situation of a global company in the mining and construction industry. Further he has built applications in order to analyze the sourcing position of several big, capital intensive, companies both in Sweden and Finland.
Mr Ekblad M.Sc Economic, has graduated from the Stockholm School of Economics. Furthermore he has finalised the Economy Program at the Stockholm University and studied at the Hawaii Pacific University.
