Kari Sillanpää, the Head of Research & Development
at Meyer Turku will be presenting Meyer Turku´s Case Assignment at the IntelligenceHunt Finals in Turku.
The topic of their assignment is "Global Megatrends and Their Effects on Cruising and on the Technologies Used at Cruise Ships".
Meyer Turku has two student teams working on this assignment. The teams are "Beyond Tomorrow" and "Mega Move Consulting".
Kari Sillanpää has worked at Meyer since September 2014 as he started as a R&D Coordinator. He has been is responsible for research, development and innovation work and cooperation related to new ship concepts and technologies with special emphasis to customer experience, energy efficiency, digitalisation, autonomous shipping and sustainability.
He started his career within shipbuilding in July 1989 Wärtsilä Marine. He has also worked at Masa-Yards as QA Engineer, Aker Yards as Market Analyst & Project Engineer and at STX Finland as R&D Coordinator.
He has concentrated mostly on passenger ships, where duties have ranged from concept designs to detailed technical studies and development projects with specialties in concept development, customer orientated approach, energy efficiency, and research cooperation.
Kari Sillanpää has been member or led development teams, responsible for developing most of the latest Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Viking Line and many other customer’s ships.
