After a very tough competition between 19 student teams, the jury of the #intelligencehunt3 chose the winner to be the MacGregor Case ”Cargo Identifying & Tracking System” with the team MacGregor Vikings.
The team members Masinde Masinde, team leader, and Robert Talling from Åbo Akademi Turku, Finland, Ali Abdellaoui from University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland and Saiful Islam from Tampere University of Technology, Finland were generously awarded.
Present in the Award Ceremony from MacGregor were Director of Co-operation and Funding, Mr Henri Paukku and Director, Customer Innovation Mr Phillip Tipping.
The winner team’s award includes two day study visit to Lisbon, Portugal, where the team will visit EMSA, the European Maritime Safety Agency, hosted by Executive Director Markku Mylly. The students will receive a comprehensive information package of EMSA services in relation to different IT-based solutions and they get to visit the EMSA MSS Center (Maritime Support Services).
During the visit to Lisbon the team will also meet CEO Antonio Belmar Costa/Agepor and CEO Rui D’Orey/Horizon View and they will also visit the Port of Lisbon.
Travel will be paid by SeaFocus and by the funds from the Student Award Pool, sponsored by Wärtsilä, Finnlines and Stena RoRo.
The Winner, MacGregor Vikings, was also granted 2000 € Stipendium by the Finnish Maritime Foundation and a one year individual or team coaching and mentoring package by Mr Frank Kho, Senior Advisor, Kho Management BV.
The winner team will also be participating the Jury work in the Intelligence Hunt 4 project kicking off 13.6.2018 by a student candidate registration.
