Long Experience in the Maritime Sector
Markku Mylly was sailing in Finnish merchant ships until 1987, when he joined the Finnish Maritime Administration (FMA). He worked in FMA until 2010 and he was the 10th and last Director General of FMA. In 2010 he started as a CEO at the Finnish Port Association, where he worked until hejoined the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) in September 2012.
Executive Director of EMSA 2012-2018
Markku Mylly works as an Executive Director of European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) in Lisbon, Portugal, until end December 2018.
European Maritime Safety Agency, was established by Regulation (EC) No 1406/2002 as a major source of support to the Commission and the Member States in the field of maritime safety, security and prevention of pollution from ships, and subsequent amendments have refined and enlarged its mandate.
Furthermore, he was actively participating the work of IMO (International Maritime organisation) IALA (International Association of Lighthouse Authorities) and ESPO (European Seaports Organisation) in maritime development.
SeaFocus Advisory Board
SeaFocus Advisory Board has been formed in May 2016. The purpose of the Advisory Board is to give guidance and advice to SeaFocus management in order to meet the expectations of the key stakeholders in the maritime industry regarding the core activities and operations SeaFocus is steering and engaged with.
