Finals of the 6th Intelligence Hunt Company and Student Competition took place January 22 at the NaviGate2020 Maritime Trade Fair in Turku Finland.
Ten case company representatives from Meyer Turku, Port of Naantali and Stevena, ESL Shipping, MacGregor, Port of Raahe, Port of Kalajoki and Rahja Stevedoring, Sweco and Port of Kokkola presented their case assignment to the teams, after which the student teams presented their solutions to the given tasks. The teams worked in total three months on the case assignments.
The Shipowners´ Foundation in Finland granted a Recognition Award of 2000 € to the team, which work was most impressive to them. Jussi Mälkiä, Chairman of the Foundation and a Jury Member of the competition, granted in person the Award to the Student Team MEGA MOVE CONSULTING.
Mega Move Consulting was working on an assignment given by Meyer Turku. The assignment was: “Global Megatrends and Their Effects on Cruising and on the Technologies Used at Cruise Ships” and the work was steered by Mr Kari Sillanpää, Head of R&D Meyer Turku.
Chairman of the Board, Jussi Mälkiä, Shipowners’ Foundation in Finland: “The student team accomplished an excellent solution to the very current case assignment and at the Finals presented very well on stage.”
Student Team “MEGA MOVE CONSULTING”, was lead by Jonathan Atwood, Aalto University, Finland, and the other members of the team were Mariia Myhailenko, Odessa National Maritime University, Ukraine and Phat Nguyen, University of Turku, Finland. Jonathan and Phat accomplished a very impressive stage performance.
The Mentor of Mega Move Consulting was Mr Mikael Simelius. He has over 25 years of extensive experience in branding, marketing and sales, spanning from running businesses to leading global organisations. Currently Mr Simelius acts as an entrepreneur advisor, prior to which in 2005-2017 at Wärtsilä. Before the time at Wärtsilä, he held managerial positions with Stora Enso Oyj, Satama Interactive Oyj and AGO Ab.
Student Mentor of this team was Ms Haianh Nguyen. She has participated the Intelligence Hunt project twice herself and after that worked as a SeaFocus Trainee.
